Lighting question

So I had a dome lamp for my uvb bulb, but read that strip lights were better so I changed over to that. This may be a stupid question, but the zoo med strip light has a piece of plastic (it's clear) covering the light so that it's enclosed. Does the uvb still go through that or was I supposed to take it off? It's attached to the light fixture itself but I was just wondering.

Fixture includes an aluminum reflector and a protective acrylic lens.

You might want to ask the company on its facebook page. That lens might pass uv and is a splash guard for turtles etc. It might be perfectly fine to leave in. Think about it, its sold as a uvb reptile light, there is a major marketing error if the hood filters the uvb.
