Lighting question

I am having issues with my 40 watt bulbs. When i mist the cage i put the basking fixture away from top of cage due to the spray causing them to burn out. Is that normal? I have gone through alot of bulbs because sometimes i forget to move the fixture and sometimes they go out after replacing at top of cage. Too much moisture might be hitting bulb. My T5 HO hood does not move, as it has not shortened. Am i doing something wrong? Attached are pics!

What kind of bulbs are you using? I don't lose many to spraying and I use a similar Hood to share you show.

Its the GE 40 watt soft white light bulb. Its smaller than the normal ones.

I've never used them...just the regular size. Strange that they would blow easier.

Odds are you will have to get a "turtle" bulb that can take splashing or at least heavy cooling from misting. Or you need to switch to bulb-in-bulb halogens were you can never get to the inner bulb.

I use a 35 watt version of this style and the water can drip and fizle off them as much it wants.
