Lighting, who runs one bulb across two screen cages,

Hi does anyone here have two screen cages, butted up next to each other,
And run one bulb across the two.
If so I have two 24inch wide, so total of 48 inches, I know bulbs come in this size, But do you think a 34 inch, would be too little, as it does not span the whole width,So go for the 48inch,

thanks

I've just gone for the 48" double fixtures from Home Depot. On one side I can have the UV bulb and on the other a 5000k light just for brightness in needed. I don't think the 34 would be too small though. They can bask right under it if they want more exposure.

i run 4 36" bulbs totalling 144" running across 9 16"cages cages works for me..

Hi 9x16 is 144inches, so your bulbs span all the cages the whole width, I mean would it matter, if im a little short each side, and go with, a 34inch bulb spanning 48 inches of cage,

thanks,:)

it shouldnt matter if its shorter or not as long as it can get under it.

i was using an 18 inch bulb on my 24 inch wide enclosure most of the time i had it set up. i really dont think it matters that much.

however if you dont already have a bulb and you have to buy one anyways, why not just get the 48?

Hi ,Im probably going to be getting a double fixture, one for the Uv one for a grow light, And may try the new t5 lighting we have here,

I just thinks the 48 with the clips on each end slightly over hang the cage, so thought about going a bit smaller, but the next size down is the 34 so a little smaller, which I would have thought would be ok, with a reflector:confused:, not to sure

thanks

i have 48inch fixtures spanning across cages.

get a 48" 5.0 reptisun and if you have live plants a 48" 6800k bulb.

I do the same as Olimpia you can get a double socket 48' t8 fixture for 18-25bucks the only difference in mine from Olimpia's is I use a 6500k t8 for my 2nd socket.

Not sure about the UK, but 48" fixtures are very common, and easy to find here in the States. Also the cost of a 4 foot bulb is the same as the 3 foot. So more bang for the buck, and more UV exposure. Light bulb ends don't produce as much UV output as well, so I don't count the last two inches on either side of bulb as UV producing.
