I have a floresent Uv light but i use a redpotlight that produces uvb for the basking light which proved a 88F basking spot.. can i leave it on all night and trun off the main light?? or does he need complete darkness??any help would be appreciated.

Those red lights are supposed to be invisible to reptiles at night, but then again they're not generally recommended for chameleons anyway. A natural heat source for chameleons is the sun, which is certainly visible to them, so it makes sense to use a visible heat source too.

Chameleons need total darkness at night (all lights off) because they sleep at night.

Chameleons also need a drop in night time temperatures (around 10F deg) - yet another reason to turn off basking lights at night.
