I use a house hold bulb for my chameleon's heat and it works just fine, i also have four live plants in her viv and they are doing really well. The two weeping figs have grown so much.

I use a regular 40W in the summer and adjust the temp of his basking spot by raising or lowering the light. I use a 60W in the winter. You will need to adjust the light as the temp will fluctuate even in an air conditioned house. I screwed a wood shelf to the wall and clipped my heat light onto that and rotate the shelf to raise or lower for adjusting temps. For the plants you can use a 6500K grow light from home depot along with your reptisun 5.0.

For plants I use GE brand "daylight" spiral bulbs. They are the correct spectrum for growing plants. You will be fine usinga regular incandecent bulb for heat.

Yes, it can, assuming the ambient temp of your house / the area isnt too low. Household incandenscent bulbs come in a number of different wattages, from 20 - 100+. Choose the bulb that provides the right amount of heat for your situation (measure with a temperature guage). Increase or decrease teh wattage and/or distance of the bulb from the basking spot to achieve the correct temperature.

Thanks for the info, where did you find this bulb, I am considering a coiled type plant bulb for my setup.
