Lights/Humidifiers

Tomorrow going to buy some bulbs for the lights.

wondering what wattage would be needed.

One of the cages is 4'T 2'W and 2'D
One of the cages is 4'T 17"D and 2 1/2' W

The Chameleons tend to stay towards the top and middle of the cages, sometimes going down ton the bottom.

Male Cham is 2 years almost and female is 11 months. Dunno if that helps with determining the wattage.

Bulbs are:

Repti-Glo 5.0 UVB (Exo Terra)
All Living Things Basking Bulb
ESU Nightlight

Also, what kind of humidifier do you use? I am also going to be picking up a couple but I want whats best :)

Much thanks.

i would buy several regular household bulbs ranging from 60 watt up to 100 watt and test each one for proper temperature(95 for adults veileds and about 85 for juveniles). make sure each one runs for about twenty mins. before taking the temperature. a temp gun is a very accurate way of doing this. as far as humidity goes, any household humidifier should be fine. humidity should spike during mistings 70+%.
:hope that helps:)

Its between 50 and 60.

The night lights are not that high of wattage. Its there just to make sure it doesn't get too cold and it is set up accordingly at night. Its placed on the other side of the cage where the Cham is not settled down to sleep. But it still helps give heat so that it doesnt get too cold.

It works fine.

UVA and heat output on regular bulbs VS reptile basking bulbs??

Hi!
So there is no difference in UVA output and heat if you buy a regular light bulb vs. a reptile basking bulb??

I currently use the Zoo Med Repti Halogen basking lights(Very expensive. Around $19.00 at Petco) which say that there is 15% more heat, light, and UVA output than the typical basking reptile lights. In the future, can I just substitute a regular Home Depot Halogen bulb and get the same result and save a lot of money??

well, there is a difference that yours have more concentrated light (basking spot), meaning that it does produce more heat, light, and probably UVA (idk).
but, using regular house bulb is also acceptable for economic reason.

first time, i use the regular house bulb and have no problem whatsoever.
the 2nd time, i use the zoomed basking spot lamp, I honestly think it is somewhat better than the regular bulb. and the enclosure is much more brighter due to the light. But, the benefit is not that big of a deal.
