Lily the Panther: a "Rescue" Progress Thread!

Why don't you use the great stuff pond foam in black? Then you do not have to worry about yellow. You got the enclosure though right?

Yep! The enclosure's hanging out inthe yard, waiting for me to get my butt in gear haha!

I made the mistake of getting the yellow extra expanding stuff, and I don't want to waste it. And I'm super anal retentive regarding wierd things, like uniform base coats. I know I'll end up super twitchy if there are any bubbles/gaps I can see from the outside, even if it was the black Great Stuff! Blacking it out with the rubber would be less upsetting to my aesthetics, haha! I'm an odd duck.

Sorry we took over your thread @GoodKarma19.

No worries!

I'm prone to rambling with little provocation, myself! :p Plus, I was sleeping until pretty recently. If I had been awake, I'm sure I would have jumped in with random anecdotes haha! I grew up with a silly old black lab, and have lots of stories from work. Imho, out of all of the labs chocolates seem to be the most variable in temperament. They seem to vary wildly between mostly chill and even tempered to absolutely crazy, anxious spazzes that are afraid of their own shadows haha! We've seen a lot of them in at the clinic for TPLOs (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy, an orthopedic knee surgery), and it's always a game of "what kind of choc lab do we have today?" :ROFLMAO:

In other news, Lily's looking pretty haggard. If I hadn't been rushing outthe door, I would have taken a picture - she has great big chunks of shed hanging from each of her feet, as if she had stepped in toilet paper, and it looks her her face exploded. Poor little lady, haha! :D

I have since tracked down some of the black Great Stuff, both the "pond" and "multipurpose" formulations (Home Hardware, Home Depot, and Rona carried them, though Home Depot had the pond formulation with the pond stuff). I'll probably swap to the black stuff after I use up the cans I already have... I may very well need more than 3 or 4 by the time I'm satisfied!

Youre not wrong about the labs! Are the overweight like most of the labs I see state side? You will definitely want 3-4 cans. 1 wasnt much at all.

My male lab was a hot mess like his owner (me) lol our female lab laid back and chill like her owner (my dad).

I was wondering if miss lily started to peel

Our female was a fatty male nice a lean but he never stayed still

Ooohhhh yeah, they chunky! I'd say at least 60% of what we see is considerably overweight. The prognosis for knee surgery in large breed, fat dogs isn't nearly as good, either... we often have to enroll them in weight loss programs first! It's really such a shame when people let their animals get to that point. I'm constantly having to adjust my feeding schedules (often seasonally) so my birds don't put on too much extra weight!

I have 3-4 cans of Great Stuff now, but I may end up using more depending on how elaborate I get. And knowing me, it'll be elaborate haha!

Owners definitely play a part in the temperament, but a fair bit of it is the individual dog! The spastic ones are usually the ones that aren't fat. Funny, that. :p

Lily was peeling alllll over the place! I think she'll be done tomorrow, possibly by the time I get home. Speaking of which, time to do work things for a bit.

Lily says good morning! :D There were scraps of shed everywhere, but she still has a ways to go. I was trying NOT to directly spray her, but she went right in the stream. :cautious: She's not at all a fan of my phone!
