um... yes? But his throat looks swollen, can you tell us your supplement schedule and what you gutload your feeders with? and what type of UVB you are using?

its not letting me upload pictures again right now but he moved i think his throat was just in a awkward position. i will post the normal looking position when it starts working again, but i do calcium with no d3 every day. herpitive and miner-all once every two weeks. i have a reptisun 5.0 has the uvb and a 55 wat day heat bulb.

sounds like you are dusting with too many Vitamins. For a veiled you should use calcium w/o d3 every other day, calcium w/ d3 2 times a month, and ONE multivitamin once a month. too much vitamin A is deadly to chameleons.

I don't keep veiled's, but I just looked at Jann's blog on veiled and im gonna disagree with the "too much supps" portion.
Imaleaf, go look at her blog, she's the go to person here for veiled. Maybe even pm Jann, I think your schedule is ok, but I have changed my routine so its different

I got the schedule i gave them straight from Jann. She recommends it, it is what she uses and what works. So yes, way too much vitamins, and it doesn't even look like they are using any d3 at all. Same schedule goes for panther chameleons.

I do agree with the lack of d3 for sure.
But I followed my breeders schedule until they asked me to try the repashy cal all in one. They are probably the longest and most successful breeders around and I respect what they know works. Im not looking for a fight here, just the opposite. There is more than one way here

i don't know about the repashy, i've only heard of using it as a food for gecko's. But just stating that jann's schedule is the same as mine. I don't know what breeder you go through so I wouldn't know what schedule they recommend.

to the poster, you really need to trade out one of those vitamin/mineral supplements for calcium with d3

Sorry. I am confused about all this. everyone tells me something different. so calcium with no D3 every OTHER day? and then calcium WITH d3 every day? and Herpitive and Miner-All once a month? thanks

Here's how I understand it: Calcium without D3 every day or every other day (advice varies). Twice a month you want to get D3 into their diet. Once or twice a month (advice varies) you want to give them a multivitamin. If you decide on vitamins twice a month, you can get a multivitamin that contains D3.

That would make your schedule: Calcium every day (or every other). A multivitamin with D3 twice a month.

Note that unlike some animals, chameleons can slough off excess calcium. They won't turn it into kidney stones or stuff like that. If you're giving too much calcium, you'll see a white substance around the mouth and nose. So, it might be easiest to start with daily calcium and watch for that.

More pressing question perhaps is, what this chameleon sleeping during the day? Because this could indicate something else, perhaps why the throat area looks swollen.

What are you feeding the insects he eats?
