Is it really a bad thing? Should I be concerned? or is he just being a baby and enjoying his warm basking light?

He seems happy overall just loves to bask

Hello! what are the ambient temps and the basking temp? how old is he?

they oftentimes spend a good amount of time basking, especially after they eat as they need the heat to digest properly. if your temps are correct, he is most likely just digesting :) how long have you had him also? when and how much are you feeding him?

I've had him for only 5 days, I put about 2-3 "medium" sized crickets in there at 1145ish, that's usually when I come home form work. Today he ate 2 but earlier he wasn't eating as well because I honestly had a set of crickets too big and a set too small he'd eat the big ones but only like 2 a day, I can't tell you how hard it was finding the "medium" sized crickets.

He's about 2 months getting closer to 3 though.

His basking temp is 89 or 90 but he has a number of spots that go down to 75, and on the bottom it's about 70 but up towards the top it is 74. The humidity in there is a little low, I can get it to 80 after misting but drops to 40 within an hour or 2.

How'm I doing so far?

its good he's eating already, they oftentimes take up to a week or a little more to settle in and start eating properly. its certainly better to go smaller then too big for crickets! i know what you mean having a hard time findings the right size crickets, have you checked out ordering some online? some of our site sponsors sell all different size crickets at really good prices.

for his age, his basking temp should be 85 and the ambient between 72-80. so the ambient sounds good, the basking could be lowered a little bit by raising the basking bulb a couple inches. i would say he is probably basking alot to digest and he is still getting used to his new home so he will probably sit and observe for several more days before he really starts exploring.

humidity should be between 40-70, so you are doing pretty well with everything so far it seems to me! :) do you have a dripper for him to drink? or just using misting?

Right now I'm just misting, but I was thinking about going out today and picking up a dripper. I usually mist him about 2 times a day, his urine in his poo is white so he seems hydrated but I never see him drink.
I'm thinking about getting the dripper to give him more time to drink and see if it bumps up humidity a percent or two. Just to be safe! :D

Do I still need to move the basking bulb if he switches between a spot where it's at 85 and the warmer one? I only ask because I have no clue how I'm going to get it higher at the moment.

But it's good to know I'm doing good so far I've been worried that I've been doing something wrong and not known, I know that they're very fragile(yet resilient) especially at the young stage! :D

i agree with picking up or making a dripper, its really good as it allows lots of opportunities to drink :) just make sure you have some sort of drainage figured out that way puddles dont develop in the cage, what kind of cage is he in?

if there are lots of foliage and pathways for him to get around on, as well as a good temp variance throughout the cage as you described, you dont necessarily have to move the light up. it sounds like you have a good temp variance so as long as he can move around to those different areas then he can adjust his body temp :)

we cant help being paranoid, these guys are definitely more fragile then other reptiles! but i think you are doing well so far so try not to stress :) any questions you have we are here to help! :D

He's in a 16x16x30" screen cage and yeah he has a umbrella plant and 2 6' vines that wrap all through the plant and his cage!

Any tips on drainage for the dripper?

I wouldn't worry, mine basks pretty much 90% of the day after going to the bathroom and eating breakfast. At first it was worry-some because he was dark brown when basking, meaning he was dark brown pretty much all day, but lately he's been basking in normal bright green colors. :)

I've also only had him for about a week or more.

you could put a tray underneath the cage to catch the water and dump the tray one to two times a day :) that way no stale water is building up so that no bacteria will grow. you can find a tray that can fit underneath the cage probably, if not i would check online i know LLL reptile carries water trays that fit underneath most sizes of cages!

Would that stress him out moving the tray? the umbrella plant is in a clay pot, I just don't want to stress him out too much
