Here in america we kill them with assault rifles because we don't have tranquilizers or time to think. At least that is what the Sheriffs Dept. in Zainesville said last year, After mowing down some very endangered cats.
Yet In Africa some how they are able to sedate the lion and seclude her even after killing a human.
I don't think america should even have a zoo after we have proved our irresponsible reactions to such a situation. Yet I'm trying to get employed at the Cleveland Metropark and Rainforest so I guess Id be out of a Job which is ok and nothing new to me.
sucks to be you! jk
Yea poor comparison but I think people get the ideal.
The farm in Zainesville most of those animals belong to the Columbus Zoo.
Yes he was a private owner.
Yes he made a big mistake and was very irresponsible.
Apparently so are the authorities. You don't think they knew they had lion tigers and bears in there city limits for years. Being transported back and forth to Columbus and from his house. They need to have a plan. Sometimes shit hits the fan and a you need to act quick. Well this could have been a very different outcome. If in deed the town prepared for this situation which is should of. They can have plenty of tranquilizers equipt and use just as any other gun shooting deadly bullets. So I'm tired of the excuses well they had to react quick and the animals are lethal. No kidding. They are lions tigers and bears. So instead of giving you police force a red light to massacre them as they are hunting heavy game. Give them all the the tranquilizers as they have previously trained in case of wild animal situation that can very likely happen in the city they are working in. Yes and permission to kill if completely threatened and feel that option 1 has failed. they can decide if an animal needs to be killed if say tranq is not working. They had time. Sorry they weren't prepared but that is no excuse. Ohio or zaineville should not have animals that can't properly contain or control or be prepared for. Its ridiculous. Thats like having a bunch of venomous reptiles and no anti venom just stupid. I completely understand its easier just to kill a bunch as you see them then have a sigh of relief instead of actually hauling animals and quarantine and making sure everything is accounted for. It all stinks. If you can't deal with it don't have zoos.
Noting how cool the zombie chams are...I still want to discuss the original topic...
I'm of the "never assume" school of thought...why do you think those animals belonged to the Columbus Zoo? I just did a search and found nothing that even suggests that.
Oh, wait...I thought they were owned by the zoo??? Not really, huh?
Irresponsible? He released them all into the wild. That's like saying a rapist is an irresponsible date.
Wow...chill a bit dude. Zoos have precautions against animals escaping. Cities have procedures for animals that do.
I happen to live in a city that has one of the biggest, best and most respected zoos in the world. Trust me, if someone went insane and let ALL THE ANIMALS GO FREE, the police, sheriff and possibly the military would be called in to start shooting prized animals on sight.
However, there are some escapes and they are almost always returned to the zoo. It's usually birds (peacocks) or ape/monkey's. Though, I'm not aware of any case in which an ape/monkey got outside the zoo. The peacocks do. I suspect that the neighboring businesses are not overly upset about the peacock escapes so don't make a big issue of it.
The right to keep these animals involves a legal contract to keep them restrained.
Yes, the local authorities knew the animals were there, but they did not need to have a plan for "all the animals are set free" because BY LAW, the animals would not be there if that was a likely thing.
