now both my chameleons are in love with greens, i notice turk my 3 1/2 month male munching on a croton plant so i put some lettuce on his vine and he ate it aggressively. he was sooo funny, it was like he couldnt fit enough in his mouth at one time. anyways thought i would share that even little guys can love the veggies. my female has been eating her pothos and greens since 3 1/2 months old too.:p

What type of lettuce do you feed them on? I would love to see if my cham wanted to put a little green into her belly!

all ive used so far is iceberg, but now that both like greens im gonna go buy some romane and maybe some mustard greens.(he just munched down on it cold!!lol)

So it doesn't really matter then? It's just that I've read stuff about only gutloading on romaine as normal lettuce has something that prevents calcium absorption. I was just wondering if it was actually true!

it might be, i thought iceberg is just useless, but i was just getting him away from the shefflera and croton, cuz those are probably worse.

They like Kale and it is available at most grocery stores. Kale is a recommended green. I get a package that has precut pieces and every day I tuck some pieces here and there and they go looking for it. I do that with strawberry pieces also, but the pieces have to be seedless and cut very thin. My 3 month old managed to break a slice, but couldn't manage to bite it. She struggled trying to get the whole piece down, but finally spit it all out. Fortunately I was watching and if she hadn't spit it out, I was ready to reach in and take it out. However, she was licking her lips for that strawberry juice!

I think spinich is a green that hinders calcium absorption, kale and mustard greens are ok though!

just tried giving them some kale, and so far turk loves kale too!!!! i cant wait to try strawberries. i thought little guys dont eat much green but go figure.lol.

do i need to back off the supplementation a tad if they are eating greens? the bag of kale says its a good source of calcium, iron, beta carotene.etc.. so..........

I'm glad you're babies are eating kale. Mine won't even go near anything that doesn't move. I've tried kale and mustard greens as I give that to the crix but no luck!

i didnt even try until i saw him taking a bite out of his croton plant. i yelled at him and stuck a piece of lettuce above him on his basking branch.he ran right up and took a bite. i guess he got the point since im the food god and all.lol

collard greens, mustard greens, endive, strawberries, mango, lettuce, alfalfa sprouts, just depends on what they will fancy or not.
