Live plants for cage

Hi I have a reptisun 5.0 light and a basking light but my live plants in my chameleons enclosure are in poor health ever since I put them in his cage. Is there any light source you guys use or advice to keep them alive and well and growing? Thanks!

I am having the same issue! I haven't heard from anyone... I called a reptile store that sells plants and they told me even with a plant light like exo terra repti-glo 5.0 (which is what I have) its the heat lights that are playing the part in killing the plants... He said it's hard to have live plants in the cage even with plant lights due to the heat lights. I just look my plants out last night and can hopefully get them healthy again and find a solution..... sorry this isn't much help. But just letting you know you aren't alone.

From what I've read you need a special plant light like the jungle dawn from light your reptiles.com or a light that emits high lumens and has a brightness of at least 5500k but it's better if it's 6500k. Lightyourreptiles.com offers a dual t5 ho fixture with one 6500k tube and Arcadia 6% which is similar but better than reptisun 5.0 or reptiglo. I ordered it even if it was a little off my budget. It Last a whole year supposedly so even if u change it at 9 months, you're still saving money over the other ones that you're supposed to change every six months. I hope that helps

You can get a 6500k for your plants at home depot also. You will need a seperate linear fixture for this or if you have a dual fixture that houses your uvb, that will work too and should help your plants grow.

The plant bulbs won't burn your cham. I use a jungle dawn led and a plant pro linear bulb and my plants are doing great

Jungle dawn led are the best lights for plants. None of my plants die on those. I have to trim them every 6 weeks or so. Even hibiscus flower every season.
