live plants

I have a question before I purchase. I'm thinking of buying a couple live plants for my veilds cage one is Schefflera arboricola
And other is Ficus. Will it grow properly without proper sunlight in his cage? Just with his UV n heat. And are they safe for my cham to eat.

The chameleons lights will be fine. uvb/uva

Both of those plants like a lot of light and will not grow well without a plant bulb, they are safe to eat. I recommend a pothos if you're not going to have a plant bulb

I won't buy them then. If it's that hard to take care of them in his cage.

You can get a ficus benjamina or a schefflera arboricola either one. All you need is something running at 6500K to keep the plant healthy. You can buy a pack of CFL that run at 6500K and get a $12 dome fixture. I have kept these plants alive and thriving under this amount of light for years and years. Yes, there are better options if you are willing to spend some money, but I wouldn't let an under $20 purchase keep me from getting better plant choices for my chams. IMO

If all you have is a UVB and a heat bulb a ficus and a schefflera will not grow well. Those bulbs give out the right kind of light wavelengths. If you don't want to get any other type of bulbs then the only thing that is going to grow in there is a pothos.
