i have the substrate try just because i think it looks nicer. We mist 4x a day for 2min each time and we never really have any water build up on the bottom. The only time i had build up was when i used substrate on the bottom. Now that i just leave it bare, any water that reaches the bottom just dries out. Has worked well for me so far

What about the dripper? Doesn't that pool at the bottom? Sorry, i'm still trying to figure something out.

Both trays are used to catch water or hold a substrate. The purpose of which is so water doesn’t get everywhere and both of which can have a drain added to them to send the extra water to a collection container of some sort.

Awesome, I just finished assembling my LLL cage and it is AWESOME. My next thing to get is my Mist King but before that one of those drainage trays.

I know the water tray goes under the cage to catch water. It looks to me that the substrate tray goes in the cage and can hold some kind of substrate. It looks like the substate tray would be harder to clean as you would have to remove the plant and anything else in the tray.

Many folks put some sort of a container on the bottom right under the dripper to hold the overflow. Just empty it as needed. Make sure the capacity of the container is the same or larger than the capacity of the dripper reservoir! Or, just use a cage tray that has a drain anyway.

If your using multpile cages you ca make your own drainage trays for probably cheaper. If you have a pooling issue figure out where it is on the bottom and drill a small hole to let things drip out.
If you search for summoner12's freerange write up he made a badass drainage system that could easily be adapted to a smaller scale. For x mas im getting another 2 possible 3 chams with setups and will be making a drainage like he has for my setup

I have to do a a major overhaul of my room to accommodate 2 big boy cages. It's going to be my vacation project

If you make those acrylic trays. Im sure there are members like myself that would prob be very interested in buying some. I much rather have acrylic than the stuff LLL makes there trays out of. You could also make some to fit the DIY cages because they currently dont fit the LLL drain pans. Make a few and post pics and pricing. Im sure you'd make a few bux to support the cham habit.

can you get me a quote for something more in the 25X25X73 range to accomidate 3 24x24x48's with a litTLE Extra drip off room? where are they being built to help with shipping ideas
