This is Juno, after the first time he shed here. He climbed on to the hook of the hanging plant, and this is the best photo I have if him since he is very shy. He is cute so I thought I would show you guys.

Beautiful little girl! I just have to ask, is that a red heatbulb or is it just the picture?

does he look like a girl? I ordered him, he was supposed to be a sub-adult male, do you think they send me a female instead? since he looks almost too young to tell what gender he is.

You shouldn't use an infrared bulb with chams. They need bright light to realize that it's the heat source. They can get burned using these kinds of bulbs, since they can't see the light and correlate that heat is coming the bulb. Try using a daylight basking bulb. That would be much better. And if you show us pics of the back of the chams feet we can tell you if it's male or female. Males have little bumps (tarsal spurs) on the back of the hind feet. Females don't. It's definitely not a sub adult. I would say at oldest, maybe 2 months.

yeah, i figured that he was much too young to be sub adult when I received him in from shipping. I was at a reptile store and they told me to buy this kind of bulb for basking, he seems to be doing okay with it and walks onto his branches under it to bask. But what kind of daylight bulb do you recommend using? (I know about the tarsal spurs, but he is still afraid of me and scoots away if i try to look, I think they are there but its hard to tell)

Well, they were wrong lol Never use those bulbs for them. Exo Terra is fine. I use the Zoo Med Basking Bulbs they work great! Some people say you can use normal incandescent house bulbs, which you can, but I don't like how bright they are and feel that basking bulbs work way better. I've messed around with them all and found that the Zoo Med basking bulbs pump out way more heat than a house bulb does. It's what they were made to do. You should also have a UVB bulb in a separate lamp as well. Do you have one? Try to get some pictures if you can.

yes! I definitely have a UVB bulb, it is a 5.0 reptisun. I am also adding more plants to the corner but he gets nervous when i fiddle with things in his cage so Im waiting until he gets more comfortable

Looks great! Just change out the red bulb for a basking bulb and you'll be in good shape. Have you gotten pictures of his/her feet?

I just ordered the zoo med basking bulbs which are going to arrive in two days. I checked and I do see the spur so Im sure he is male now. Thank you for the help

A little off the subject but if your able to get him out of his cage easily & you have a safe plant outside of his cage that he can kinda chill out on for a few mins. you might try doing that when you are doing stuff to his cage. I have a 2 yr old that I've had from 2 months, I always take him out before I go in. They are territorial little guys & need their own space. I believe that in doing this I am showing him that I know that is his territory & he is safe there, no one else goes there. I dont need to. He trust me & comes out on his own, even when I dont want him out & I'm just feeding him. Just an idea that worked well for me. He's adorable, best of luck to you guys.
