Hey all, my tamatave has been acting up lately, pacing the cage, getting aggressive, wanting to explore.....i think its time i try to find him a girlfriend......the only problem is trying to find someone with a female tamatave or that practices crossbreeding, i dont really want anything in return, I just want him to calm down and be his normal self again :D any help is well, helpful:p

PS. I would only use crossbreeding as a final resort.

I'm in the same boat. Sancho is looking for a lover too but I don't have the room for a full time lover. Good luck on finding one :)

What can be cross bred with a Tamatave?

Guess I'm not the only one, my dude is roaming all over! I told him that he needs a permit to carry a loaded weapon around...but he just wiped his nose and stared in the other direction.

Breeding a male chameleon will not result in him being any calmer. When I breed my male panthers they are actually fired up a bit more than usual for the first couple days after copulation.

It's a nice thought however,

Todd

Just a note, it is the season for males of almost any reptile species to be more active and "on the prowl". My carpet pythons and leopard gecko's go through it. Heck even my reef tank goes through an algae bloom when summer starts to approach.

As was mentioned before, a hot blind date won't calm him down for long, if at all. It's juts nature doing what it does best.

On the other hand, what (if any) health or behavior issues can occur if you're male never breeds?

Just curious, Gizmo is getting very restless also, now that spring is in the air.

More likely is the transfer of parasites if either party hasn't done a fecal in the last couple months. I ALWAYS do a fecal on the animals I intend to breed a week or two before breeding. One of my male panthers picked up coccidia on a "date" which is much harder on a cham thannot breeding and being kinda restless. I don't think not breeding will affect your Cham negatively.

See ya,

Todd

whatever, i still think itd be nice if anyone has one, but now that you say that i guess i ll just go for pure tamataves

anyone heard from Luis Z. I havnt spoke to him in a while i think he went overseas, i know he had a female tamatave but i cant get ahold of him.

My male was an easy goin fellow until I bred him, now he goes nuts when I go to pick him up for cage cleaning..........got laid and now he's an ass!!!

This is a really strange thread. What in the world makes anyone think that their chameleon needs to "get some" for any reason other than to procreate. Do you think he will be "happy" once he does the deed. I am not trying to be mean here, and am being semi-silly, but thinking this way is just wrong. It is like all of the crazy people that think their female dog needs to have a litter prior to getting fixed.

I agree! But we are all , it seems, UBERHERPNERDS!!!!! lol
I use to train dogs, and thats what I'd tell people.......she doesnt need to breed to be calm.....wait till she matures then she'll calm down....just so happens that maturaty come at the time most people breed their dog.
