Looking for a date for my tamatave.

Nothing wrong with crossing if there was there would be no morphs of any kind of reptile out there. Just make sure your honest about parentage and percentage when u go to sale the babies. Crosses can make some of the coolest looking reptiles, and as long as there is no "death" gene in it like some mammals can have, then sh!t go for just be honest about it.
People, we are humans, its in our nature to want to change things and experiment. Besides, saying crossing is wrong is racism......like saying white and black person shouldnt have kids....and so on. Aren't us humans' color a locale?? Well then if your against it with reptiles, then your against it with humans as well.

So your meaning to tell me that the 15+ offspring that are sold from a crossed clutch will end up in the hands of people that will be "honest about parentage"? This has nothing to do with racism, and the last sentence of your comment has to be the most ridiculous comment I have seen on this forum.

Never said I argued or made a point with logic....hehe

Julirs i find that comment rude, no need to post it here, we all have our opinions.

Explain how it is rude other than you are not satisfied with my answer. Facts are facts. Your thinking you need to breed him is unfounded. I never try to be rude. If you said you wanted to split the clutch, then there was a purpose, but to breed him just so he can do the act is, well, wierd.

Since we are spouting opinions I agree with not "cross breeding". We humans are ruining the pure locales. Same thing with dogs. Designer dogs no matter how cute disgust me.

This is a really strange thread. What in the world makes anyone think that their chameleon needs to "get some" for any reason other than to procreate. Do you think he will be "happy" once he does the deed. I am not trying to be mean here, and am being semi-silly, but thinking this way is just wrong. It is like all of the crazy people that think their female dog needs to have a litter prior to getting fixed.

I agree.

We are talking from experience, how many adult male panthers have you ever had and bred? Have you ever seen the reaction that a male has before and after copulation? Your desired result will not come by breeding a male to a female as I have noted earlier in this thread.

Good luck,

Todd

Terrible analogies.

The localities of panthers are not breeds, they are meant to represent what the chams look like in the wild in their wide distribution. Crossing them ruins that whole thing.

Breeds or locales, the result is the same. The distinction and purity is gone.

Did you say something mean and now regret saying it? ;)

On topic.....

I think it isn't a good idea to cross locals.

Saying it is racist to say what I just said is by far the dumbest thing I have heard on this forum...... and there are some pretty dumb things said on here...

BTW.... after mating your male he will just be looking for more..... don't you remember what it was like before when you were a V?

Australian Shepherds...merles if u breed them together tend to die.
Also, even though its not a "death gene" alot of animals with to much white will be def(sp?) theres other examples, saw it on Discovery back in the day.....

Just as long as u dont mind me tucking??!!! :p

Well then, all Panthers r the same species to....so whats the big deal then??

The issue is that as keepers people want to say 'this is an ambilobe' if i sell you a mix and you don't really know what your doing and all you can remember is that part of the animal's genes are ambilobe..... you then meet someone who wants to breed a ambilobe or wants to buy an ambilobe... you sell it to them... they take it home thinking 'its an ambilobe'.... they breed it with their pure ambilobe.... now they have "ambilobe" eggs... they sell them as such and people buy them as ambilobe....... BUT they aren't REALLY ambilobe they are a mix but no one really knows that because along the way a wink link in the chain left out the fact that they sold a mix.

ALL OF THIS can happen even with WC animals being imported. You have to trust that the exporter is really sending you what he says he is. People who have been doing panther breeding for a long time can tell you what is and what isn't... BUT even then there can be an animal that pops a color that isn't 'normal' but really is pure bred.... so... to keep things simple and straight, it is better to just not cross breed.
