Looking for free blue prints for a indoor/outdoor cage...

Hi!

I've decided to build 2 cages for Gerald, I was wondering if there's some "free" or should I say, public blueprints for building a cage...

I'm looking to build the cage to keep one for indoor and the other one for outdoor "sun tanning"... not that I'm gonna leave him roast... I've decided to do it cause I think is more gratifying to build your pets house with your own hands...

I've got some ideas in mind, but I would like to see what the community has to share

Thanks for any input!

Hi Chino,
You are down the road from me.

For around $40 (1" wood n screen at Lowes or HomeDepot) more or less depending on the size you can have a decent cage.

Hey MTB!!!

Nice to see someone from around.... I live at Katy Creek Ranch

After looking around I've got a pretty good idea in what to do... I'm gonna go with wood as is cheaper and easier to work with. I'm gonna make a thread and post as I make some progress, I'll try to make it this weekend.

Now I believe I told you the only way I wanna c your cage was with whom??
LOL cage looks good man.....:p

Yeah, she never did take to the idea of posing in a bikini in it! Sadly! Maybe when the next ones are built as they will be walk in sized! :D

The second one is what I'm looking for.... Please PM with material sizes and dimensions if possible...

Let me know the sort of stuff you want to know if that makes sense? Brief dimensions are 2' x 2' x 5' for the top enclosure and 2' x 2' x 2' for the base 'planter'.

I've used wood throughout (as I can't get aluminium easily in the UK) and sandwiched the screen in between 2 frames for each side. This was to cover up the staples and also make the frames considerably more rigid as any bend/flex/bow is absorbed by the other frame.

The first link with the pdf in should give a better description of sizes and stuff (although it is a lot bigger) so give that a read too!

But yeah, drop me a pm with what you want to know!

I've already been working on some plans, but now I wonder between Aluminum or Wood... I do like to look, texture and prices of wood! Something similar with the second link, cost me around $65.00 to $80.00... I've been doing some research and I think I'm really committed to wood, but instead of the box at the end, I had in mind to do a drawer like someone else did, cant remember who was it, anyway, yes... I'm most committed to wood. My main choice for the "frame" will be 1"x 2"x 8' wood beams...

Is there any benefit other than looks from wood to aluminum?

And I will PM!

Thanks!

The wood size will depend a lot on how you plan to join it all together. The wood i used as 1/2" x 1.5" (roughly), so effectively a side is 1" x 1.5". Using 1x2 would be fine, but just think how're you're going to get the screen in place and whether it will look right. It's 4am here so I'll disappear for a little while now, but will pm you tomorrow.

Hey guys! I live near Cinco Ranch! Have you made your enclosure? I'd like to see some ideas as I am preparing to build one myself!
