Looking for special 4ft UVB bulbs.

Hey all you breeders out there.....I'm trying to locate 4ft UVB bulbs but they MUST BE L.E.D. ONLY!

Can anyone help? Does such a bulb exist!
Thanks!

No, I don't believe the LED bulbs can produce the correct wavelength of UVB at this point. Todd (LYR) had a recent post discussing LEDs not producing UVB.

There are UV LEDs, but not for the optimum wavelength for Vit D synthesis. Also, those are expensive (as in thousands of dollars). If you want a strip of those that is 4ft long, you are looking at a second mortgage.
Why LED only?

My husband is a lighting specialist, searching for these for a client with an animal hospital.

Do you have any idea who sells them?

The technology is not there yet. There are no appropriate UVB LED lights yet. Contact Todd at Light Your Reptiles (a site sponsor). He's been doing some work with the problem. He can let you know if there is anything that is at all suitable.

Why does it have to be LED?

Look at Mouser electronics.
But again, I don't think that the wavelength is the optimal for vitD synthesis

I will just leave this here :) (Edited most of the not relvant to this parts) Hopefully this will ping todd as well :).

These are not intended to be good for animal applications.
NO LED available to the hobby can produce the correct UV bands that duplicate natural sunlight that is any where near practical to use.
NO LED is proper to use now as to effectively replace merc vapor or flo. bulbs in providing correct UV to prevent MBD in our animals.

Please keep in mind--
just because they are "LED"...
that means nothing as far as the spectral quality of light is concerned.

These are not good for animal applications. They are just best used on plants only.
