Ordered the Jumbo 48x24x24 cage for my Jackson's on Tuesday & it came in yesterday, it's amazing! Free shipping and $20 less than Dragonstrand's version (saved about $75 by going with DIY instead) couldn't be happier with my purchase.
Should I purchase a bigger lighting set so it gets warmer up top for him to bask? And is the setup ideal for him? He's a fickle little guy, appetite is poor & is very unaccustomed to me. I'm hoping the umbrella plant is enough to make him feel hidden. However I am happy to say he's come around a little bit (I can be near him without a chameleon color changing meltdown)

I’m so happy you like it! I just purchased mine 5 min ago, I was also looking at the dragon stand but the whole purpose of getting one of those was the ledges and they were extra and the tray it was going to cost me almost 300 to have it shipped to Florida! Was it easy to build?? Did u need help ?

Have you ever had a repti breeze? Wondering how they compare. Thanks

The cage comes with an instruction paper and all the pieces are labeled, it took only about 20 minutes to build! Super easy haha I didn't need help at all

Love all the live plants! My new setup I am finishing now is 100% live.

You said, "Should I purchase a bigger lighting set so it gets warmer up top for him to bask?" Are the two bulbs you have providing UVA and UVB? If not, ou'll want to get those. As far as heat, some branches higher up would be good. The plants are more for cover than climbing. He'll need some sturdy branches to bask. The bask distance will depend on temps/bulbs though.

Great job on the build! In my opinion I would go with a linear tube that fits across the entire top, the coil bulbs only hit a direct area underneath it. I use Reptisun t5 HO 5.0. UVB is so important, it is needed for bone development and it also helps stimulate appetite. I would also offer more coverage towards the top, also some more vines to climb on!!

I just upgraded to the same cage last week and I'm very happy with it. Much better build quality than the ReptiBreeze. Sturdier frame and stronger mesh. I lucked out and got one at my local shop.

Hmmm, is there an age that they kinda stop doing that ? I found my panther on the top of the cage, actually he is very nosy and goes everywhere.

No not really because they want to be free and go as high as they want to cages are terrible as I can I’m building a green house so mine can roam freely as much as possible...they tend to be more happy and healthy if you do this with a bunch of plants and a auto mister on a large scale with the right lighting for the green house. Chameleons are space hogs they need a lot.
