What is your schedule? What do you love about it?

Do you use a fogger or dripper as well? If so would you be willing to share your water schedule for each?

I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with it

I just started using ours. We like it. Easy to set up easy to program. We use the chameleon academy hydration schedule not really any fogging. Humidity stays where we want it 70-99 percent on gauge. We are in south east Texas although in house humidity is 50%. We just like having it automatically happen on a schedule.

I’d be totally lost without Mist King. I have it set to mist for two minutes right before lights go on and off, 1 minute around noon and then for a couple of 15 second periods during the night to give a small boost to humidity. There’s no way I can achieve a night temp drop below 68-70 so I don’t use a humidifier or try to boost humidity all that much at night. All of my chameleons have white urates, so I see no need to add or use drippers. There have been a couple of times that I needed to offer additional hydration opportunity and that is when I will use a dripper, but just for about 20-30 minutes per day. There has also been a couple of situations that I’ve needed to also offer hand misting for an extremely thirsty sick cham who was gulping directly from the nozzle.

It’s a lot but we are all here to help! I LOVE MY MISTKING!!!! It’s made care for my chams so much easier. I also fog and love love love my fogger and I install a dripper daily so I do all the things :)

Scheudle:
7:50 mist 2 mintues
8 lights on
3 dripper installed
745 mist 2 min
12 Mist 1 min
11-6 fog

It’s worth every penny honestly. What are you feeling overwhelmed by specifically ?

Thank you so much for posting your schedule this way! It helps clarify a lot of my concern that may be using all three systems would be overdoing it. The one question that I have is about the dripper… You have it installed to go on at 3 PM? What kind of dripper is that? I’m intrigued. ;)

Thanks again for the information and support

Make sure this is not daytime humidity. If your house ambient is 50% your are going to need to really watch your daytime humidity to make sure it does not sit too high with the heat from the lights... RI would be a risk with this. Start a thread if you have any questions about this.
No you are correct those numbers are for night time. Upper part of enclosure is sub 50 percent by end of the day. Those number are where day starts. Things dry out all day long

If you start your own thread I can go over this in more detail with you, just tag me in your thread. But you want daytime levels to run 40-50% and no higher. If it is taking all day to kick back to 50% then your daytime humidity when temps are hottest are running far too high. And you are adding risk for a respiratory infection.

It’s not high tech at all. I cut the bottom of a water bottle off, poked a hole in the bottom and just fill it with water every day.

It’s not the technology that scared me… my son is a total techie and I’m pretty tech savvy…. it was having a mister & dripper during the day …. Plus the accumulation from the fogger overnight… and keeping humidity under 50%

Oh I see. You can get some computer fans to put on top of the enclosure and if you need to bring down the humidity levels during the day just turn them on.

Hi, I was just looking through posts about misting schedules and came across your comment. I was just curious, if I mist my Cham in the middle of the night and early morning like you for a humidity boost is it ok for them to have little droplets on them sleeping in the dark? If that makes sense... I like your scheduling but I’m always worried about them getting too cold like that but not sure if that’s possible. My temp gauge says that the bottom of my chams cage where he sleeps every night is about 71 so it doesn’t drop lower into the 60s so that’s what interested me in your schedule. And if you mist before their lights come on will they still be inclined to drink the droplets left even if it’s not moving water?

I would not mist at night. There is debate about fogging overnight, but misting is not something I recommend. Most misting is giving opportunity to drink and raise humidity when heat/lights are strongest. Misting at night will not benefit chameleons while they sleep. Some can benefit from fogging, but it must be done correctly. I would not recommend fogging for all chameleons.
