ya'll know i don't know much about this female veiled i have (Annie). So today i came home from work and checked on her and i saw this lump by her left hind leg. i'm really not sure what it was. i didn't know if she would move when i opened her cage so first i took some pictures through the cage, then opened it. she didn't move so i took a couple more. then i touch it to see what it felt like. it was very soft and she sucked it back in and it popped out the other side. same hind location, but on the right, then i touched it again and it disappeared all together. Since i've never owned a female before i don't know what it was...an egg maybe? are they soft?

offer her food and keep track on how much is she eating and is she at all. Did you overfeed her before you saw this lump? How warm is she in her cage during the day? She can go 3 days without food like Clea my female veiled recently did but showed no interest in a laying bin. Today she ate and that means no eggs in her shes just a fatty:) Make her a laying bin just in case

she has a laying bin. she has had it for 3 month (since i got her) the vet when i first got her wasn't sure what stage she was in with eggs but thought with her size she might be getting ready to lay. her condition wasn't good so the vet didn't see any reason for an Xray. she said if we see eggs i'll say keep doing what your doing, if we don't see eggs i'll say keep doing what your doing, so theres no reason to put her through the stress. her daily temp is around 82* F. she has been showing no interest in crickets (her favorite) and i hand feed her everything. it started about a week and a half ago she didn't want anymore hornworms. i thought she was spoiled of those so i got her some crickets, but she doesn't want them. i left 6 butterworms in her cage 4 days ago and she didn't eat any either

edit: her tummy is still very soft

hmm see how long she wont eat at the 3rd day tell us.Did you say this is going for a week or did i misunderstand? Lol sorry. Has she shown any interest in goign to her laying bin? Is she goign to dig somewhere in the cage/ I know clea try to dig up the paper towels:p

Clea has the same thing and then when you feel the lump it goes back in strange huh. Sorry for double post

ya. she hasn't eatten for about a week/week and a half. she fell sunday night she might have been trying to climb down to her laying bin, i really don't know. it was late at night, she could have been sleep walking for all i know :p

Laura she looks like she needs to lay now. I am not an expert but I have been there several times with my chams and I might, no I would take her to the vet she is so big she could be egg bound. A week and a half seems like a long time for a cham to decide not to eat. I have had them go off food for a few days but not a week and a half unless there were problems. I know you and Annie both are tired of the vet but at least call and see what they say. Keep me posted.

okay. i will give a call first thing in the morning.

thanks guys!

ALSO. i'm giving her reptaid every morning. today is day #4 in a 10 day dosing period. it has really helped her open her eyes. seriously. her eyes are open almost all of the time now :)

IMHO you need to try not to bother her right now...you might be preventing her from trying to lay her eggs by your presence. If she starts digging, its even more important to leave her alone...don't let her see you watching her.

I also agree with a visit to the vets.

Was she mated or will the eggs be infertile?
How old is she?

okay so late last night i went to fred meyer, lowes, and home depot to look for that fiberous potting soil, maybe coconut husk? I noticed Catherine (PardalisGirl) uses it for her females to lay in. i've had washed sand in annies cage for her but i found a poo last night on a more thorough check that was made up of mostly SAND

so last night i bought all of the "plant starter kits" fred meyer had since home depot and lowes didn't have any of this potting soil. I also bought a new plastic tub and mixed up the soil for her in it. when her lights clicked on thismorning i gave her her reptaid and placed her in her new laying bin, almost identical to the way i saw Catherine's (i just got a different tub)

her vet is not open yet but i will give them a call. how long does the female usually stay in the laying bin?

****SHES EATTING THE DIRT! is this normal?! shes focusing on it likes it's moving then shooting her tongue out. maybe since she hasn't been eatting her nutrients are low and shes trying to get them back up? can i throw some crickets in the laying bin with her or is that a no-no?

i'm waiting for a call back from the vet
