Madagascar Gecko Shipment Pictures

We were lucky enough to be able to go to LA yesterday and help unpack a shipment of Madagascar animals. Brookesia and Ousatlets were the only chameleons that came in, but I must say they were some of the best chameleon imports I have seen to date, the Oustalets were just awesome!

The rest was Uroplatus and Mantella. Here are just a few pictures of the animals that we picked out (many are for people on this here forum) and some of us unpacking, we had intended to take more but we were all in awesome’ness overload! Ryan, Lisa, Me, Darci and Sin City Geckos (Nate and Phil) made the trip.

I was going to label the pictures but I don’t think that is necessary...

I wish we could keep them all but alas; most are going to be shipped on Monday. :(

The ones that will be kept alone for quarantine until we are sure they have no mites then they will be placed into there terrarium homes, most are on the young side so we wont have any breeding with this group till next year me thinks. We are VERY excited though to have picked up more Uroplatus for our projects. :D

WOW, WOW, that looks totally overwhelming. How did you ever look at them all and decide which ones to bring home? Looking at your pictures ALMOST make me wish i had ordered some geckos but I just can't expand into anything else, well at least I can't and stay married.

Well first we had to crack open just about all of the few hundred cups and took a look at what was inside. Then we sorted them out by who looked in the best shape, they all looked very good so that overall did not narrow it down much. Then we picked out the ones that we liked the best, then separated them into sex groups, narrowed it down again to the most healthy then we picked. The only thing that saved me from walking home was that he only took cash, which we had a very limited supply of. Then again, im sure the same was true for Darci. And Ryan... And Lisa. And Nate. Haha

It's so unfair that you can get all those species without problems, here the EU just forbids it, without any reasons... but anyway great looking specimens ! :)

Best of luck! If you somehow manage to keep too many Uroplatus, I'm your girl! :p

Great photos! Man, I wish I could've put aside studying for the day to drive up, too. :( Where's Ryan's pics? I wanna see the phant you guys got for me, too!!

I so wanted to get in on this and call you...
now after seeing the pics I wana jump out my window, but I live on the first floor and will only twist my foot. :p

yet if ya find you have too many Satanic leaf-tailed geckos, and you need to get rid of them...

Why do you guys still import so many wild animals that you already have?
How many of those will survive? And arent there alot of bloodlines and generations of those crested geckos anyway?

Nice pictures you guys!! These guys look really nice for having just come in. Shipping is never too kind to uros.

I am frothing at the mouth right now, I can't stand the wait - Christmas in March is the best!! I thank you and my various male uroplatus thanks you as well. ;)
