I just resently got my first cham his cage is right next to my bed some times he will climb over and get within inches of me he will even ate a mealworm off my hand the first day i got him. but everytime i mist he climbs down into the plants and everytime i open the door of the cage he climbs down into the plants. i was wondering if chameleons usually will relalize im the one who brings food and i bring no harm. i know alot of people can get them cham onto thier arm but mine was a WC and is almost an adult now. I have tried putting my hand infront of him but he always turns around. i also tried a branch nothing works yet. how am i ganna get him out when i clean his cage out and maybe breeding if i get another fischers chameleon?

will feeding him off my hand make him trust me more??

Feeding him off your hand will make him realize you bring food and he'll be used to you. Haven't you only had him for a short time? Leave him alone and let him get used to his enclosure.

I wouldn't even thing about breeding to be honest. It takes a lot of time and money to really do it well, so make sure it's something you really want to do. They are awesome chameleons, I love my multi as well.

They tend to be curious so just keep his cage door open and at some point I'm sure he'll wander outside his cage.

If you only have some time with your cham. let him get used to his enclosure first..since you have it next to your bed ..it would be best to elevate his cage, that will make him more comfortable and will boost his confidence..
if you want him to go out side try feeding him outside but be patient that is the key:) jaja iv held out my hand so many times for my cham's./i would leeve it extended for even 10 min. before i felt the numbness haha:eek::D

First, understand how he views your presence...as a large strange looking creature that changes colors unpredictably (your clothes). As he settles in to his new territory he sees you as an intruder. You are either going to eat him or try to take over his turf. As a wc cham, these two options are the most likely. He needs to learn that you are a source of good things like treats. It isn't natural for him to take food from an intruder, so give him time to figure it out. Chams don't like to be watched all the time either, so if you spend a lot of time on your bed next to his cage it is likely to stress him out as well. That's why he hides; so he doesn't have to stand up to you.
