Male and Female just curious...

I was just curious: Could you house a spayed female with a male in the same cage? I know people keep breeding pairs together, but would that work? I don't have a female, but I was just wondering. I'd love to get a male and female couple and name them Lucy and Ricky from I Love Lucy :ROFLMAO:

No offense, but your motivation for pairing them is exactly why you shouldn't. Pairing it cohabitating chameleons is for people that are interested in preserving social dynamics and encouraging natural lifestyles/ breeding behaviors. It takes experience; intuition, a keen eye, an objective point of view in the interest of the chameleons' health and not your own goals, and a properly set up enclosure.

Absolutely not. The male will be constantly trying to breed while the female will never be receptive. It will result in serious injury. Separate enclosures are a must.

Who keeps breeding pairs together? Introducing a pair until they either reject or breed is not the same thing as HOUSING them together long term. There are a very few species that may cohabitate in a very large free range situation like a greenhouse (melleri, pygmies, some B. fischeri), and an occasional unusual pair that is peaceful, but the vast majority of chams do NOT share space well with anyone. Spayed or not doesn't matter.

Its a college dorm room...boy nun boy nun, unless u are Hugh Hefner with lots non spay bunnies, then thats a different story.

It means to keep them separate like boy on one cage n grl on the other cage, unless the male cham live in the wild like Madagascar has all the females around him.sounds better now .
