male but what type?

We bought a year old chameleon for our oldest daughter but do not know the type or breed. We would like to know so we can find out how to properly care and feed for our little guy. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Never buy an animal you cant identify becuase I honestly don't think it was a good a idea buying a animal you don't know about because that seems to be a veiled chameleon and he doesn't look to well as his casque seems damaged. Read many care sheets becaus you are in for a lot of feeders cages and lighting Just as a heads up.edit: please don't assume tone I just meant in the future.

Well we researched them a good deal plus my gf used to be a manager at a veterinary clinic. I previously assumed veil im just not an expert so was looking for positive feeding from more qualified individuals. We of course will not feed him meal worms and already have the necessary equipment picture included. The lizards are just a more touchy class of care so want to be sure of everything. Ok I didn't mean to assume it's just the way you had out your situation it seemed like you were one of the many here that use bark a glass tank, and put your chameleon with another animal which happens here often but there to are lots of qualifies experts here so you will learn a ton about chameleons.

Feeding mealworms is not a bad thing! Most say you should limit them to snacks or treats but they can be gut loaded and dusted just like any other feeder. The casque is not very big but everything else about it looks Veiled.

Day dripper is fine with drainage but get a mister unit as well. Oh and get rid of the night heat light. Is not needed for veileds for sure. If temps are 60f or above they are fine at night.

Oh qdude no biggy I can understand that. I dont presume muself to know everything by all means but I am careful, caring and do my research when it comes to my animals. As far as the mealworms I hear tell that if they do not bite the heads off they can still live inside of them..is that not true? I do have a m8ster and know the humidity and saturation levels need to be monitored but as far ad the heat lamp it can get cold here at times I live in wv and not far south at all plus temps I thought of 80. And basking of 90-105 was adequate?

That is a male veiled chameleon. He has a large scar on the middle of his back (where his spines are missing) most likely from a burn and his casque is really blunted, probably another burn scar.
