chameleons deposit excess salts and calcium through their nostrils and urates, it isnt a problem at first, but of course, continuous "crust" around the nostrils can lead to major problems, too much calcium d3 supplimenting can lead to mbd, too much calcium supplimenting is sometimes very hard for the animal to digest, and too much multivitamin (especially with vitamin a) can lead to hypovitaminosis and liver failures.
thus being said, a general idea of supplimenting at different ages is a must, but every species is different aquiring slight moderations of supplimenting given. also, the amount of natural sunlight, and/or to get technicall, the uvb reading in your cage can also help you determin a more accurate schedual.
