Male or Female Baby Panther

ok thanks. I bought him/her as a male yesterday. Not sure what to do. I did not want a female. New Cham mom and did not want to have to worry about eggs and things.

Always possible to be wrong at that size. From colors and tail, she just looks female. Maybe ask where you purchased from to do an exchange. Female egg care can be stressful for the unprepared or unwanted, from lights to supplements to laying.

also I dont know if this is correct but I have a handbook that states the pnather gular pouch is red in a female and blue in a male and this one is red when puffed out. Is there any truth to that?

was told only about 1 month old. so is tiny.

Panther babies should not be sold until 3 months of age. I have heard about the gular colors, however have seen them incorrect. This is why most of us don't sell them until 3 months, just to be sure. A good way is to take him outdoors and rephotograph. It may bring out his/her colors.

Definitely a female and definitely older than 1 month. If I had to guess, 2-3 month range. 1 month old babies are barely bigger than when they are born.

Congrats on the new addition, but would contact the breeder. Any legitimate breeder would replace for you. If this was a craigslist or that kind of buy they probably won't do anything. I would suggest looking for actual breeders in the future!

As for females, some may never lay eggs. And egg laying isn't that bad as long as you have the proper lay bucket for her. Most of them know what to do!

here is another picture. I ordered from a pet shop that got from a breeder I thought. Here is 2 more pictures outside.

thanks

Yep, it's a girl and 2-3 months roughly. Not under 2 months for sure.

Would contact the shop and see what they can do. But recommend not buying from pet shops as most don't have a clue.

I have contacted the shop and sent her pictures I have not heard yet what we are going to do. I will probably hear from her tomorrow.

Usually they will give you an exchange or offer a future discount. Some may give you a store credit of sorts. She is quite pretty. You may want to educate yourself on female care, and decide if maybe you want to hold on to her. Female panthers can be very colorful during changes, in fact I prefer them over the males. I love their pink and orange hues. Good luck with whatever happens. I vote to keep her. :)

They are shipping a new one and will be here tuesday. So I will post pics. Says they will for sure send a male

If you ever get the chance to keep a female, I recommend it. Different personalities from males, bright orange and pink colors with green spots. I am partial to the females by far.
