so i am looking into getting a veiled chameleon and i know the female and male veiled chameleons aren't that different except for size but which were you guys prefer? because I'm like 50/50
Get a male, especially if this is your first chameleon. The females will lay eggs even if not mated, and it can be stressful. This way you can learn about chameleon husbandry while being stressed enough as a first-time keeper without the added female-induced stress!
I would suggest getting a male. Females have eggs to deal with, and can get egg bound. My female chameleon, Camille, just had to have a surgery to get her eggs removed, and she got spayed. Males also live longer because they don’t lay eggs. So I would definitely recommend getting a male.
Get a male. More color, more impressive size, longer life span. Also more expensive because of this. I'd suggest an Ambilobe Panther male. We have some excellent breeders on this site if you need any help just let us know.
