yay i was rite so i should watch out for her with egg laying rite..also how do females act if they r egg bound

ok, how do you tell if it is male or female? I have also 2 dilepis and I would like to know how to see the difference...

In chameleons, males will have a little "spur" on the back part of their hind feet. Also, if I'm not mistaken, the area where their genitals are is a little bit more of a lump in males, and flatter in females... males also have (usually) brighter colours, more pronounced skin patterning (although females, when gravid, look more intense) and bigger casques (for veileds.)

Laying on the bottom of the cage. Panting. Bad colours. Lack of energy. Looking dead.
Keeping a bucket of compacted dirt in her cage will alleviate egg laying problems.

i got her from llreptiles.....wat do you think about that site??

I've bought several animals from them over the years and have been happy. I knew I was getting wild caught (WC) critters and made preparations in advance for that. WC animals are a bit tricky to get started in captivity and I usually don't recommend them to a beginner.
In your case, extra misting sessions, or better yet, a humidifier will help her old sheds and just generally make her feel better. Your little lady does look fairly healthy and nice to me.

I go by the hemipenal bulge, or lack of it.

True! Most species don't have the telltale spur so other means of sexing must be taken.

Good luck with your girl Apple!
Cheers!

wow great thanx for all the help im so glad she looks healthy now i just want her to be receptive or sexualy active

i also have a male delipis but he is smaller than her but they are both still young is it possible she might have unfertalized eggs at this age??

She will be. I assume the dilepis to be a seasonal breeder so you may not see any mating attempts until early next year. I have not worked enough with the species to be 100% sure of that so someone please correct me if I'm wrong. She can start developing eggs after about 6-9 months of age, so always keep a laying tub in her cage at all times.

A good article of the dilepis and related species for you to read: http://www.chameleonnews.com/dilepis.html There's some great info in that article, both on breeding and general husbandry issues.

Don't get ahead of yourself Apple. Learn about keeping your pets happy and healthy first and breeding them can come later. You will have a better experience all around if you take it slowly. Trust me.

If you haven't already, perhaps a visit to the vet is in order. WC dilepis are notoriously parasite ridden upon arrival. I think that should be your first step.

Good luck.
