male panther companionship

I am babysitting my friends panther that is about 2 years old. I have a 1.5 year old ambanja. I have a huge cage for them that I put outside. For some reason they like to hang out with each other. i had them separated with some FRP but they always seem to get to each other. They never flare up or anything at each other. They always have calm relaxed colors.

Yesterday..when i was feeding my ambanja, I noticed that my friends panther was looking through the gap trying to see what was going on. I left for 15 minutes and my friends panther got into my ambanjas side of the cage.

Since then I took out the separator and they always sleep next to each other.

what the hell is wrong with them? lol

and i know that keeping 2 males are not a good idea. I just want to find out if there is an answer to this weird companionship

I think sometimes when animals are taken out of their natural environment and the stresses of finding enough food and fighting for a female are absent, animals relax a little bit
