Male Veiled or Female Veiled?

Aloha! After recently going to the Repticon in Houston and seeing all the chameleons, I decided to go ahead and get back to getting one. So right now, my main question is should I get a Male or a Female? I think I read that females lay eggs even without a mate and it sounds like a pain, but I've also heard that males tend to be a bit more aggressive. So what's y'all's opinion? And also, at what age should the chameleon be that I buy it? I'd like to start it as a baby but isn't it harder to raise from a baby to an adult? Thanks for all the responses!

as loong as you know what your doing have have your setup all done then you should be ok im getting amale here soon so i say get a male and when he gets older if u want to get him a girl friend.

I would go with a male if you don't want to worry about eggs and stuff. I got my cham when he was 1 month old. For the first month or so I would only hold him a few times a week but as he got older I hold him everyday. He's super friendly now and I often let him climb on people. I think it just depends on how you raise them. Good luck!

Will I have to have to arrange my setup as it's a child or can I just stick with a full adult sized cage it's whole raising?

If you don't intend to breed, buy a male. Unless you buy something really tiny, you can work with an adult cage. If you buy a very young chameleon, set the cage up with a false bottom (put netting all the way across) so he's confined to the top until he's bigger.

no im sure u can have a big cage for them i have always went with a big cage so that when they get older i dont have to upgrade and they dont have to get used to a new one. only thing with a big cage is if u have a ton of stuff in it lol it can be a pain to find the little guy

I think the only reason not to put a tiny baby in a big cage is because it makes us spotting them 1,000 times more difficult...

I believe babies require a different humidity then to an adult as well, right?

I keep the humidity the same for babies and adults. It's the temps that I keep lower on babies. If this is your first chameleon then I'd recommend a boy so you want have to deal with the egg laying. I'm attaching my blog below for new keepers. You might find it helpful.
