Mantis Ootheca

Ok...I had seen that Jannb had been feeding Amos and Fiona's babies... baby praying mantis. So several weeks before I was going to get Lil Louie from her I ordered 2 oothes from Josh's Frogs. Now keep in mind when you order 2 you get 4 incase one doesn't hatch. I had them almost 5 weeks and decided they were duds and ordered 10 from e-bay tuesday. Also keep in mind all I have is 1 baby veiled. So I wake up this morning and go to feed Lil Louie his favorite crickets and some BSF larvae and some movement in a cup behind his cage catches my eye...yes...I have baby praying mantis coming from one egg...lots of them! 3 more oothes waiting and 10 on the way. Thank God I also have a massive production of fruit fly to feed them. I definitely need just a little patience.

How do you keep them from hatching? If not you're little guy is going to feast for days.
My little guy has enough feeders in this house he can feast for months. When I 1st got the 1st batch off oothes I refrigerated half of them. Instructions said if you do that you can bring them out at a later date so they all don't hatch at the sametime. They can be refrigerated for months. I also have crickets, BSF Larvae, fruit flies, discoid roaches, micro superworms and hornworm. My little guy can feast to his little hearts content.:ROFLMAO:

Spoken by a true expert on THAT subject!
Yep...and the longer those babies are there...the more in love she is going to be. Hmmmm....she just might keep another.;) If I had a husband that had Mike's understanding of her love for them...I would have more too, I'm not ready to trade him for a cham yet.:ROFLMAO:

Well you saw my house. It’s like a jungle and there’s barely room for us humans now. I really, really, really need to find good home for the babies. Hint, hint, hint to all the members here.
