Marks on my chameleon.

Hi I was wondering if someone can help me out. My female veiled chameleon Kaiju has these dark marks on her side and under her throat. My enclosure size is 12x12x18 and it glass. This will be the last week for this my screen enclosure will arrive any day. She is currently 4 to 5 inches and has some good girth to her. She is maybe 3-4 months. I have a monsoon rs 400 mister setup to the tank going off ever hour for eight seconds. She eat about 60 gut loaded crickets a week. I use a fuluker product. I dust the crickets with zoo med reptivite with d3, twice a week. I'm using a exo terra 13w UVA bulb. Tank temp during the day is usually at 80 and 70 at night. I am using a substrate Eco earth, which get cleaned out once a week. I use a drip system to provide a constant water source. Her activity is normal, her stool looks normal brown with white. I have never seen her fall In The tank. I'm worried about these markings and would like so ideas on what it could be. The pic is not the greatest sorry and she is shedding.

Hello! from the look of your pictures, which are not the best lol, those lines look like the natural perforations of her throat skin. It looks normal to me, but if you can provide a better picture I will take another look.

It's not the lines it the blackish marks on her shoulder and under her throat

I'm sorry, those photos are not very clear where we need them to be. Perhaps take her out tomorrow when she's awake and try to get a better pic.

But from what you described from your husbandry, I just wanted to touch on a couple points. The supplement you're using right now you want to only use about twice a month. Vitamin D3 is bad in high concentrations so that's why we try not to use it more than a few times a month. You will want to get plain calcium (no vitamins or anything) for daily use (because girls definitely do need a lot of calcium).

And are you using anything as a UVB bulb? I see you described a UVA bulb, but not a UVB.

The pics are pretty low res, I can't tell. From your description though, black marks can be bruising, they can also be burns. A clear pic is needed here.

Oh ok, I see what you mean. Weird, it's like she's bruised her ribs. I can't imagine how she got that, but they don't look like burns... perhaps bruises but it's unusual. Any idea how she got them?

I'd send a message to members Dr. O or Ferretinmyshoes. They're both vets and they may be able to tell you something more enlightened or useful.

To be honest I have no clue unless she fell at some point and I did not see it but the tank is set up chameleon friendly plenty of things to grab onto I housed lots of frogs in the past so I know enclosure set up is important. I ask the pet shop were I got her and they had no clue either. I just don't want her to die or any thing. I really enjoy having her.

additionally, besides the points Olimpia touched on, most keepers really shy away from a substrate in the cage (the Eco earth). I don't believe it's related to the issue at all, but something you should consider. sticky tongues, insects and substrate=impactions.

I cover the substrate with moss so that does not happen. I use a inch layer of moss over the sub straight
