mating crickets

my pet store just went under and the only thing around me now is petsmart and petco and i am most def not paying 12 cents a cricket. I want to buy a large shipment online ,say 500, and i guess "grow" my own. If theres any one out there with some good advice for doing this ,help me out thanks.

I put a buttload of crickets in a tub with some dirt. The females lay eggs in the dirt (bed a beast is what I use) and 10 days later you have pinheads. If you want to seclude the pinheads, instead of putting down bedding in the tub, just put a small dish with soil in it and the females will go in there to lay and then you can remove it like every 2 days and put it somewhere else and keep an eye on it so youll have a separate container of pinheads. I keep mine in a small critter carrier if I do the bowl method. My crickets and roaches live together in harmony in an open top rubbermaid tub. Simple.

Why not get dubia instead? They don't smell as badly as crickets and they are far easier to breed.

My crickets dont smell and I keep both together as I stated.. easy..

In my case, the crickets breed faster than the dubias..i dont have alarge stock of dubias nor do I jack up the temps to increase their breeding as nothing really eats them right now.My pygmys will if I cup feed but, thats about it so I dont have a need for an abundant amount of dubias like I do crickets for my frogs and pygmys.

Right now i have a large rubbermaid with a screen top and egg crate do i need some type of heating. How long does it take a pinhead to reach adulthood. Lastly one of the biggest things im worried about is the smell of dead rotting crickets, Let me know people, Thanks.
