Mealworms; Pupae stage

some (well quiet a bit) of our mealworms have hit the pupae stage, which im told is the mating/egg laying stage. but they dont move... how are they breeding if they just lay there and wiggle and cant move or see? how do we know if they bred, laid eggs, and what do the eggs look like?

From what I understand they can only mate when they grow into beetles:

if they are still in the pupae stage they cant mate as previously stated only when they complete their metamorphasis can they mate as beetles

ok. does anyone know how long it takes. any info i find is about their life expectancy not the amount of time between each stage
