Mealworms?

Hey guys!

So I went to Petco today and bought Espio some mealworms as a treat. I know they aren't the best feeder, so I only bought a few as a treat for him so he had something besides crickets. How often should I give him his mealworm treat? He ate two today. He's been eating about 15 crickets a day these days. I think he must be growing (he's about 4 months old) because he used to eat no more than 10 crickets a day and now he eats 15 every morning and starts trying to find some again in the afternoon, so I throw a couple more in there when he acts hungry. Should I throw in a mealworm every day? Every other day? Once a week? What do you guys think?

Thanks!
Jen

Oh also! How do I feed them to him? The two he ate today he ate out of mine and my husband's hand. Would I normally just put them on the bottom of the terrarium or in a little dish for him?

Treat them like candy, how much candy should you give a kid. 2-3 a day is plenty. And i would keep it up of only giving them to it by hand. This helps with training/taming.

For non hand feeding i normally have them climb the screen, or in a diy screen/plastic bottle feeder.

You can gutload them the same stuff you feed your crickets and it will improve their nutritional value significantly over bran.

I offer mealworms about 1x per week as a full meal that day instead of other insects. Generally I offer the same number of mealies for that day as I would crickets on a given day.

yea I gutload my mealworms carrots/apple wedges. But I haven't fed them to my chameleons as near as some here post. maybe 1 a week. By the time im done with a container of mealworms most have hatched into beatles. But that's nice to know I can feed them a little more frequently.
