mesh vivs and flexariums

Hey Tryme,

If you start buying the cheap cages and the cheap lights, ect... It won't be long before you are on here with a post like, "Panther Not Eating - Please Help".

If you can't afford to set it up properly you should wait until you can.

Not trying to be a jerk at all, thats just how I see it...

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Joe Farah

I have the mesh cages and I have great lighting. Sure the cages are cheap but if you have the lighting right it should be fine

I guess I have just been real lucky. I use both Reptariums and screen so trust me I understand the benefits, but having used 2 Reptariums over the period of a year I have had no trouble with stability or with the zippers! Remember, you will need somewhere to put your cham when you are cleaning, so if you start out buying an inexpensive mesh cage and eventually upgrade to a larger more expensive screen cage, all is well. :)

I agree with you 100% Julirs. I know I have will have to hold onto the Reptarium even when I do upgrade to a wire cage so I'll have a place to put the Cham while I'm cleaning his main cage. In the summer I'll probably just get a large ficus and let him chill with me in the backyard on it while I clean that way he can get some good ol' natural sun.

woah joefarah, its just that at this point in time i can't find the aluminium cages only online etc . They are also very expensive including delivery and also i would most prob have to get it specially made, which will take even longer. So for the sake of lets say 5-6months I will use a flexarium and then go on to upgrade to an aluminum cage. I understand your concern..just saying my case:)

Joe Farah, that is an ignorant statement. If you do not like reptariums/flexariums just say that they suck or tell of your experience with them to show your potential concerns. Why you are pressuring a sell that you are not going to get commission for is beyond me.

If lighting is a concern you can always install the florescent lighting inside the reptarium on the ceiling of the enclosure.

yes, i was considering this but ill make my decision next week when i actually purchase my flexarium, im well on my way into this "project" i brought some plants, topsoil and a spray bottle for misting today.

where are you located? if you live close by to me, i have a used 18X18X36 aluminum cage that you can buy cheap. you can even borrow them and return it back to me (with deposit money off course :D)

i have had my veilds in a mesh cage for a year and a half she has produced 2 clutch's and both my male and female are very healthy. dont buy into all the hype. the uvb lighting is importint so use a reptasun 5.0 but as for a heat lamp you can just use a 75w house light in the winter and a 40w in the summer your cham will be fine. as far as the cage go's mesh or screen they are all fine in my opinion. the screen cage's do look nicer but if that dose not matter to you then go for what you can aford. good luck.

yeah ive seen this site before i may get one specially made by him in a few months or so england hasn't got a vast selection for care of chams like the US sadly!

Don't know about that, been finding that quite a few garden and pet stores have started opening reptile sections recently, start to find more and more places when you get looking and talking to people.
