Metabolic Bone Disease

Ya my veiled is only 3 months old. Yes and I do have him in a 4 foot enclosure now. I know it is bigger than what is required; but chams in the wild do not have an enclosure size. So I would assume he would be fine in the four foot enclosure all the way till he is an adult. My bad for any confusion.

As long as he is findng food OK and you are seeing good "poops" then he should be fine. Maybe cut out some plastic sheeting and cover 2-3 sides to keep drafts away. The red bulb should be fine with a cage that large.

Julirs,

Today and yesterday I have noticed my cham producing loose stools. He hasn't been eating that much, but he does eat. This passed Sunday is the day I transfered the cham over to his new enclosure. Do you think his loose stools could be associated with the stress of the move? He had good solid stools in his old enclosure.

I have also been reading alot about the CFL UVb's and now understand why cham owners are cautious of them. I have not seen any signs or symptoms from my cham that would indicate photo-?-conjunctivitis, except his recent inappetance which I would associate with the move.

I would have to guess that it is the move. Watch him tomake sure he is finding fook OK-as that is the reason people suggest smaller enclosures for babies. If he is finding food then it should be OK-give him a few days to adjust and if he seems to be struggling then put him back in the smaller enclosure for a month.

Oh yeah, he knows where the food is. Normally he is pounding down 30 - 50 very small crickets a day. That is alot but he is a little porker. I also have been feeding him pheonix worms and absolutely loves them. but since the move his appetite has deminished. If this keeps up I will post a new thread. I will continue to monitor his activity. Thank you Julirs for the help. :D
