Missing Nails.

My female veiled Luna is missing several nails on her back grippers. Some are completely gone and others are barely visable. Is there a possibility that theyll grow back? Also could this be why shes falling alot lately?

Usually once the nail is gone, they do not grow back. The ones that are barely visible may grow back. Missing nails should not really contribute to her falling a lot. When my cham Pete started falling it was because he was grabbing his front legs with his back feet, which is a sign of MBD. Also from the picture her belly looks pretty big. Does she have a laying bin accessible in her enclosure? If she does not she should.

Figured, thanks. Well i rescued her from a previous owner, she has signs of MBD. Thats the only major problem so far. And yes, she had one in her previous cage also. Ive asked about her looking big but never got answers. I believe shes just over weight because ive felt for eggs but, its hard to tell. So hopefully shes not egg bound.

I thought they do grow back if the root of the nail is still attached, like a bird

Shes in shed right now. I didnt want to pull her out.

I would have to disagree. The nails falling off is because she is big and gravid so she is probably pacing the enclosure looking to lay. So she is climbing on the screen cage and can't support her weight on it so the nails are being filed down and/or ripped out.

You need to make sure there are more branches and supports so she isn't climbing on the screen and messing up her nails.

Also make sure she has a proper laying box in the enclosure at all times.

She for sure has some eggs in there. They RARELY get that big without also producing eggs. Make sure to get the laying bin in there ASAP.

Im sorry but id have to disagree with you. Shes never shown any signs of being gravid, and she does not attempt to reach the bottom of her cage or climb the cage itself. I have exo terra branches and other bird perches throughout an umbrella tree, but its possible. Also shes had a laying bin at the bottom of her enclosure for a long time and shes never attempted to dig, only to taste it. Lol. But shes never shown no signs, and wouldnt she have passed by now if she was egg bound?

No she could easily still have unlaid eggs and not died yet... That is kind of bad logic to think like that also. I would recommend an x-ray.

Also I guarantee you the screen cage would file down her nails especially since she is that big. The nails wouldn't just rip out and file down for no reason.

I second the notion that she is with eggs and that is the reason for her nail problem. If the problem was never apparent before but is noticeable now, what changed? She may also be climbing on the screen to get to the bottom, you just dont see it. I would definitely get an X-ray, but my guess is there are eggs

My chams not a male, thats not questionable. And i said its possible about her climbing the cage. Of course she didnt go and get them filed, and they didnt just fall out. But gradually one every so often. She still has all of her fronts, just missing several in the back. And nothing has changed. She could possibly be overweight, ive seen "egg bound" chams have huge fat packs after people thinking their cham was holding eggs. But an xray will be done.
