Missing one day of cleaning

Hello,

I wanted to know what people thought if at times I missed cleaning the bottom of the terrarium one day. I have the pvc botom that I have drilled holes in to drain the water. I use a rainmaker jr mister so there is a bit of water. I do try to clean his terrarium every day but sometimes I get home late and do not want to wake him and will try and do it while inserting the crickets in. In case the crickets that are loose are looking for food, I do put in some of the total bites here and there.

I guess I am asking because my girlfriend is convinced that if I don't clean it everyday, I will be negligent and will cause "Larry" to get an infection.

Now, I had a veiled Sharkey for 4 years and a jackson, Taz for 5 years. They did not have problems if I missed a day or so of cleaning. It's not that I am avoiding it but there are occasions where it is difficult due to time constraints to get it all done. I also pointed out that even with everything automated and having some brave soul feed Larry, we may be faced that for a few days things will have to remain. Hopefully, this won't be the case but then again it may.

On a lighter side, Larry is doing well. He has gained 5grs in a week or so. He is turning a bit green and has a great appetite. We were a little concerned but adding the silkworms to his diet of crickets have done the trick. I must admit that I was over zealous in getting silkworms and now have some large ones that he will not be eating. Oh well as long as he is happy then that is what matters.

If Larry has infection issues, often cleaning is probably warranted. I, however, clean everyone's cage on the weekends due to time constraints (stupid day job!). I snip off the poo-ed on leaves with manicure sissors and clean and disinfect the bottom.

Check the site poll forum, there's a "how often do you clean your cage" poll.

Thanks for the replies, I want to re-assure my girlfriend that I am not neglecting Larry. I work with the silkworms. I have to admit they are getting pretty big. But, you are right I am seeing some little ones growing. And, Larry really likes the silkworms.
