I just got mine too

I set it up and it seems to work with no real problems , other than a lot of noise for the first few seconds as the hoses seem to vibrate againts the back of the cage for a few seconds. otherwise it mists fine! I was wondering though if the starter one has an adjuster on the mist nozzle as I cant seem to turn it at all?

Could you possibly have a kink in one of you're lines maybe?

it should be sitting on the metal plates

where you should see holes where you could screw it into a piece of wood to keep it steady if you wanted to.
