Mist king vs fogger & drip…

Good question, they all have their own time and place. Most of us fog at night until about daybreak. Misting is done just before the lights come on and go off, luckily I am able to hand mist all of my enclosures with a good spray bottle. Drippers are normally used for a few hours in the afternoon. Bonus for me about hand misting is I can witness if they are drinking or not.

Thank you so much! I currently fog through the night, and then drip in the morning. I was given a mist king and was just wondering if there was a preferred system or set up. I guess if I programmed it to mist, I would have everything automated except feeding and watching! ;)

So with all systems considered, what’s an ideal misting schedule?

I think most people with mistking only use it like 2-3 minutes shortly before your lights come on and just after lights out.

Neither. I mist morning and night and give one fat hornworm a week. Hybrid enclosures in the northeast US within a finished and climate-controlled basement. Everyone poops great.

I decreased the intensity of the fog and placed the hose closer to Cthulhu’s sleeping spot ;) seems to do the trick

Do you by any chance have pics of what goes where with the mist king? I was given one and it’s partially assembled so I’m not sure what’s what & of anything is missing? :/

Try doing a search on YouTube for mistking instalation.

Thanks so much to everyone who shared specifics that have personally worked for you! It’s much appreciated!

I have the mister going on close to the lights on and lights off times… I have the fogger going through the night. The mister and dripper seem redundant as my humidity levels are on target without the dripper… and the misting seems to provide plenty of leaves to drink from twice per day. Your thoughts? And if I still should use the dripper, when and for how long would be most appropriate if my humidity levels are 50 without it

I wouldn’t expect the dripper to raise the humidity extremely significantly. I turn mine on usually in the mid afternoon (around 2 or 3) and let it go until almost their bedtime. My female veiled can’t get enough of it and rushes over to it when I turn it on. Sometimes she will just sit under the drips.

I like them also to water my plants. I try to move them around so they hit a different plant each day, this way the water is still used and not accumulating as much when it falls off the leaves.

Realistically though you’ll want to do whatever is best for your specific Cham — if they are maintaining good hydration through misting, fogging and feeders you may not NEED the dripper. My veiled certainly maintains enough hydration through drinking the mist and with her worms, but her dripper makes her just so happy I will certainly continue to use it.

Thank you so much. It is so helpful to hear the anecdotal differences that people have found to work effectively.
