Mist or Drip Pros/Cons

Using a Dragon Strand 24x24x48" enclosure............ which would you recommend ... mist or drip ? Either way, let me know which one you would recommend to purchase. I dont want to enclose/wrap the sides and the back in any way.

Personally I use a little dripper for my 18x18x32 enclosure I like dripping because it is cheaper to be plain and honest. Misting is probablyrics more convenient but if your on a budget I would go with dripping, it works great, and costs lesss. I prefer drippin over misting but that's just me. Ifor you get a dripper I would recommend a big dripper by ZooMed, and remember you can always mist with a spray bottle! Hope this helps!

You WONT need to enclose any sides with dripping.

I'd recommend both.. you don't necessarily need to buy a misting system.. But you need to spray the cage daily for humidity/drinking purposes.. and a dripper helps to give a constant drinking source when your not misting..

Thank you KaijuVeiled and distortionz for you feedback. I will check out the ZooMed large dripper. As far as the misting goes........ if I should down the road decide to purchase one, will I need to enclose the sides and which mister manufacturer should I look at ?

I mean you don't have to enclose the side's. Some overspray will get out using a misting system.. But if you aim it towards the plants not much gets out. However you will want some sort of drainage set up.. But you can't go wrong with a mistking

Thanks distortionz................. I have looked at the Aquazamp Rain Dome systems........ is there any pros or cons with this compared to the mistking.......... I actually like the fact that the pump is mounted on the water reservoir bucket and the pump motor has the rubber shock mounts. From all the youtube vids I have watched.......... most of the pumps are quite noisy, unless they have improperly installed with no concern for vibration or sound. Look forward to feedback on the Aquazamp !!

When I first got my chameleons I used a dripper alone. I then purchased a Monsoon which is a piece of crap, so don't waste your money there. I went through 3 units in less than a year. They have a 2 year warranty but it is a giant pain in the butt getting them replaced. I looked at both Mist King and Aquazamp and went with the Aquazamp for 2 reasons. The pump supports more nozzles and the raindome attachment. I still used a dripper with the Monsoon because I wanted a constant source of drinking water for the chameleons. I had a tray in the bottom of the cage in which I put the plants directly in a sand/soil mix with drainage to a tub under the cage. I had to empty it frequently.
When I set up the Aquazamp/raindome, I used more water but had to empty less from the drainage tub. The only reason I think this happened is because of a finer mist that stayed in the atmosphere. The droplets from the raindome remained on the cage screen and plants directly under them between mistings so the chameleon always had drinking water available.
So I would go with the Aquazamp hands down. It is a great product and the company is good to deal with.

I started with the typical mist king set up and a dripper. Then I took out the dripper as the frequent misting seemed to be sufficient. Then I converted my mist king in to a rain dome and liked that much better. And now I have since also put the drippers back in as I was noticing my boys licking water off of the screen top where the rain dome is between mistings. I see my boys drinking more often with this set up. Granted all this tinkering has occurred over a 2 year period.

So I recommend the rain dome and a dripper together.

Thanks for you input the two of you!! Since I'm just starting to put my set up together, I am going to go with the Aquazamp with one or two mist heads...... get a dripper and down the road pick up a Rain Dome. Which dripper has the best control over the drips?

MistKing is excellent. One nozzle is all you'll need. Do it right the first time. None of the water gets out of the cage granted you have plants to catch the mist. It's quiet all you hear is the nozzle when misting. I use distilled water so the nozzle doesn't get clogged up.

I definitely recommend an automated misting/rain-dome system. Personally I use a Mistking and have had it for well over 6 years and the only downside is the seconds timer pooped out at 5 years.

I really don't reccomend the monsoon and forget about the habimist.

I've recently started tinkering with an aquarium dosing pump as an automated dripper.
