Mister timer

so I made a home made mister system for my chameleon cage and I was wondering how many times I should set the mister to come on a day and how long each time

I suggest experimenting a bit to see how long on average it takes to get a drinking response.

I had it set on 1 min before my timer broke and she drunk a lot I have a big leaf for moister to build up on

I would set the basking light to come on for a while before the first mist. I go an hour. Then my main lights kick on and first misting goes off. The first one is a long one of 15 minutes. This is to allow plenty of time for the drinking response to kick in and for my chams to have a chance to clean their eyes. This is also my key misting to set the tone for humidity. It soaks everything good and gets the dirt in the potted plants wet too. Then every two hours it goes off again for smaller increments. With a 10 minute at noon and a final 10 minute misting at five PM. This allows the cages to dry pretty well till main lights off at 7 and basking light off at 8. The reason for the shorter mistings at two hour intervals is that it is very dry here in the winter. In the summer I probably wont need to mist as often.

Also, I keep it a little more moist because two of my chams are q. gracilior and they do love their water!

These are my misting times for my diy system. Lights on 6:45am, off at 8pm.
