Misting a Panther Chameleon

I am going to be getting a Panther Chameleon but I am having a difficult time with how often to mist down the cage for a baby chameleon and some people say it is ok to mist the chameleon down lightly once a day, even good for them, but other people say not to? Could you guys help me out here? Thanks!:)

It really depends on the Chams temperament. My Ambilobe hates it and my nosy loves it. For a baby I would mist at least three times a day but make sure the cage has time to dry in between.

A young Chameleon should be misted at least three times a day and have a water dripper available at all times during the day in order to drink.

You never want to directly mist them, try to avoid it, but no matter what they get some on them.

How old is the chameleon you are planning to get? If its real young you will want to mist the plants and the side of the enclosure. I dont use a dripper with little guys that are under three months.
I lightly MIST not power wash (lol) my adults and give them drippers.
I typically mist until the enclosure is dripping and or when the chameleon is done drinking.
How often and how much you mist will depend on how dry you area is. Like mentioned above 3-4 mist is a good place to start then you can adjust it to your chameleons needs.

he will let you know. i've got three panthers and all three have different tolerances for water. one loves it he will seek out the mist and get directly in it. he will stay for a few minutes then leave when done goes directly to his heat light. on the opposite end of the spectrum. i've got a panther that dosent tolerate it at all. he will become very agitated and leaves an area that has water mist he is a pain in the butt some times. then my other one is kinda a combination of both doesnt like it at first but once the droplets start to form and "rain" down he is all about gettin in it. i would just make sure you see him drink and make sure his urinate is mostly white (about 90%). he might hate it now and like it later inlife or vise versa. hope this helps

That is awesome! I laughed when I read your note! Sounds like you have a circus of chameleons! I never knew to check his urine and that it is supposed to be mostly white! Thanks everyone for all the help. One more question, how long should I leave the dripper going?

I am still searching for a good breeder in the area that has healthy male panther chameleon. I live in Indiana and it is kind of rural so it is really hard to find them here, unless I wanted to travel all the way to a pet store in Chicago to get one, which I don't trust pet stores sometimes.

Want a good healthy panther? Order from one of the breeding sponsores on this site! Best around and do not be afraid of shipping they know what they are doing!

My little guy seems to be getting used to it. He used to leg it as soon as I started but he tends to stick around for a minute or two now, maybe even the whole misting, though usually only sticks around for the first misting of the day (He hides from the rest).

He's 3-4 months old.
