Misting and dripper question

Well i've been misting my cham (9 month old male veiled) twice a day and a dripper on once a day for around 10 mins. This is my schedule:

Lights on at 9:00
Misting at 10:00
Feeding at 11:00
dripper on at 15:00
misting at 19:30
lights off at 21:00

Give or take an hour or so on some days due to me being out etc as we all know it's a challenge fitting this all in with our busy life styles.

Am I misting enough?

Get a timer for the lights if you dont already have one. It would be fine to just keep the dripper going on all day. and then let it dry out at night. mist 3-4 times a day, or buy a misting system. Getting more "automated" equipment helps keep your scheduling to a minimum.

Yeah good point because I can't always be around. I already have timmers for my other lizards just gotta get some in for my cham now. Thanks mate.

Believe it or not reptiles are highly adaptable to a different schedule than the normal daily routine. I'm a complete night owl, and all of my reptiles are happy on my own schedule. At 2 in the afternoon, my veiled is still asleep until I turn his lights on, and the same as my Jacksonii. My bearded dragons are the same way. They don't wake up until about 2:30pm and are ready for bed around 2 am. I told another chameleon lover here about my schedule and she was shocked. It's a simple truth. Reptiles follow the pattern of light and darkness. It seems contradictory, but it's the truth. All of my guys are happy on my schedule and are all very healthy. I mist my boys twice per day, and they are completely comfortable.

This makes sense because when you bring a WC over to North America, our timezones are of coarse different from the other side of the pond.

Hmmmm.

This has not been my experience.
The chameleons are kept in a room with no windows here, yet they are very aware of when the sun rises and sets.
They wake up and go to bed with the sun, regardless of whether the artificial lights are on or not.

I think mine sense when its night and day even without there lights comming on or off (my cham and my geckos)

When I mist my veiled sometimes I don't see him drink and I end up completely soaking the enclosure after about 2-3 minutes. Is it worth me keep spraying until I see him drinking?

I agree. I have overslept a couple of times and when i take the covers off the cages, they are already under their lights waiting for me to turn them on. Of course, i suppose that could be because i usually am up earlier. Interesting. As far as misting. I would try misting them more often if you can. They really need to have something more in that period of time, especially on hot day. Get a Herpmist, it's a great system and comes with a timer. That way you don't have to worry and he gets what he needs.

Yeah I think i'm going to invest in a mister. Although my veiled really doesn't take to my pump handle mister but he does when I use a normal manual mister. (the squeeze trigger one without the pump)The anoying thing is obviously I have to do more work etc and not as much water comes out after all my effort. But on the other hand, the pump mister sprays so much it can frighten him, my enclosure gets a little TOO wet and my cham hasn't even started to drink.

@tryme,
I would recommend using very hot water (from the tap), it will instantly cool down when its sprayed, this will annoy them less when being sprayed.

I've found my chams seem to get annoyed during the first 10-20 seconds, but then eventually work out why im doing and begin drinking.

I personally keep my dripper on 24/7, turn up to quick drips when im spraying (as they're in the right frame of mind for drinking), then turn it down to a slow drip about 15-30 mins later.

Yeah I do use hot water I use my britafilter water into the kettle. Let it cool down quite a bit then spray. It's still hot when I spray but alot cooler when it comes out like you said.

I steped up and got A mistking starter set. And added A few extra nozzles to my order. spent most of friday installing it .It is awesome!! the timer in the set will set to go off up to 8 times A day, and at diffrent times each day.My life just got A whole lot easyer. My last mist is at 5pm for 45sec. All the cages are dry 7ish and the lights go off at 8pm.The panthers seem to like it more than the Veileds so far.
