Misting/Drainage

So I'm thinking about getting my Jackson chameleon the Monsoon misting system and I wanted to get some ideas on draining systems. What are some good ideas? Thank you!

you can paper towel it down after misting
drill the bottom and drain out of the hole to a bucket or whatever

I use the MistKing system 4 times a day for 2 minutes each time.

I am misting from the top of a 53" tall screen enclosure, and the mist is filtering down through a tall "Devil's Ivy" plant onto a 1/4" coconut fiber mat.

Under the mat, I have 3/16" hardware cloth bottom.

Under that, I have a rubbermaid container as a catch pan. Between the daily mistings and hand-spraying, I have never had any moisture/water accumulate in the rubbermaid container...it simply evaporates before getting there.

Just to throw in my opinion, the monsoon system sucks and the timer does not work accurately. I tried monsoon and took it back and ordered the MistKing system. The monsoon system is sporadic at best. MistKing is accurate and does exactly what i set it to do.

Wow, okay!. Thanks for your advice, man. You probably just saved me a lot of money lol.

I agree I have heard a lot of horror stories with the Monsoon system but I never owned one. I have the MistKing system with 6 nozzles for 2 cages and the thing is absolutely amazing. It turns the cage into a rain forest. Everything runs without a hitch. I ordered it directly from MistKing. I ordered the Ultimate Value Misting System

Make sure and get some Value 1/4 inch Collets & Collet Locks
http://www.mistking.com/collets-and-locks.html

A couple/few Value 1/4 inch Elbow so you can run the hoses cleanly around corners
http://www.mistking.com/value-elbow-14.html

A Couple Value 1/4 inch Plug In Elbow
http://www.mistking.com/value-plug-in-elbow-14.html

A Screen Top Wedge or two so you can hook up the nozzle cleanly on top of the cage
http://www.mistking.com/screen-top-wedge.html

And some Tubing Clips so you can secure the tubing to the cage. If the tubing is not secure then they will shake so by securing it down with these, it eliminates the shaking and rattling that can get annoying.

This way all you have to do is pay for shipping once. I did not notice what extra I needed till I went to hook up everything the way I wanted and didn't have all the extra parts I needed.

Some here like monsoon. I went through 3 in 3 months. Timer wouldn't do what I wanted. The supplier could have kept sending me the same one, IDK. I sent direct to Marty at mistking Canada but there may be a supplier near you. Im sure someone will advise.

i never had the monsoon i had some other version i think and it was a waste reservoir leaked etc...

look into aquazamp or mistking they are sponsors of the forum, you can't go wrong with either. Aqua zamp is usa based and mistking is canada, so it will impact delivery time and shipping costs which ever you pick.

Thank you for taking the time to provide me with all of this information!

monsoon

I just purchased the monsoon, after hearing All the horror stories. So I bought a digital timer problem solved so far. I set the monsoon on the 120 setting and the digital timer for 3min 5times a day. In mu area that seems 2 be good. Hope that helps.

I know this is an old post but could you pm me maybe about where you got the coconut fiber mat and hardware cloth bottom? I'm trying to find a draining system as I am tired of replacing the dirt and cleaning the rocks every 2 days hahaha glass bottom so drilling a hole is not a choice!
