Misting/Electric outlets

So, this may be a silly question, but I've gotta ask. If you're using an all screen cage, are there any concerns that some of the mist will find its way out and potentially down to one or more electric outlets?

I don't have anything set up yet, just thinking ahead. I'm a current fish tank owner, so water is always a concern near electric outlets.

Do you guys have any advice, stories, etc…?

Yes, that's why I don't have any outlets or extension cords (or anything like that) right behind a cage without a barrier or within any possible "splash zone." For example, in my last set-up I had the cords running behind the cages about half-way up, but since I had an acrylic background between the screen and the cords I wasn't worried about any water coming into contact with the cords. And because they were higher up I wasn't worried about water somehow leaking out the bottom and running along the cords to the outlet or something like that. I have good drainage in my cages though, so I haven't had issues with water going anywhere it shouldn't have been going anyway.

So it just takes a little common sense, I think. I've had reptiles like 7-8 years now and so far no accidents or close calls with anything electrical! Woo!

I hear ya. I've got drip loops and such on my tank cords. The only issue I have is the main outlet I'll be using for the chameleon enclosure is right behind it, so I'll either want to put up a splash background or maybe consider a breeder type cage with plastic lined walls.

Plenty of time to decide, fortunately. I'm looking to purchase from Screameleons, but they won't have anything available for 5-6 weeks.

Being a fish tank owner etc I doubt you will have any issues with misting, drip loops and no direct spraying is always a good idea. Would definitely make sure you block the plug points off from any possible water as corrosion etc will set in as you know.

I just realized my power strip has the little slide covers for the unused outlets…Definitely gonna take advantage of that. Also have a nice piece of wall I can mount it to so the outlets aren't facing up. Probably going to do that too.
