Misting System

If you don't care about the nozzle color and if you want to save about $10 per nozzle, you can get the white 'super swivel' nozzles with collet locks and red or black tip in the clearance section for $9 (). If you want I can include those for you in the value kit. The system would then cost you $175. That includes the new timer that can be set on per second basis (not per minute). I'll even throw in a 4th clearance nozzle if you want since I don't have much use for them. Otherwise the kit will come with the regular items, pump, T connector, L connector, spare Plug-in elbow, tubing clips, ball valve, tube cutter, reservoir bulkhead and 25' of tubing)
Marty, i just programed that new timer yesterday, and today it went off with out a hitch, right on time too.

In the end I decided to go with MistKing. Skittles and Pinky will now be the happiest chameleons around. Thank you Marty for the great deal and fast responses to my e-mails! I can’t wait to get my MistKing! :D Check back in 2weeks I will have pictures of my setups with misting system.

Take your own advice and let it go. Stop bantering one another with trivial BS.

My nozzles are red… My nozzles are a better red! Oh yea? Well mine is the best red ever! Well mine cost less! I give mine out free with the purchase of a system. Well your system sucks. Yours makes noise. You smell, no you smell ECT ECT ECT. MOOOOOOM

HAHAHA.

I personally like my own system. I made it from scratch. I have talked with Jason in person and seen his systems in action. Herpmist is great, especially for the money. I buy my misting nozzles from him because I like how he conducts himself in a professional manner.

I use a Flojet pump that has high volume and can create pressures up to 55 PSI (twice that needed to create a nice mist from the nozzles on the market). I use an accumulator so that my pump isn't running all of the time during a misting cycle. I have fitted my tank to refill from a water line i plumbed in from the house plumbing. Here are some pics of my system.

I use this method of misting for cages I can't cut into or for free range setups. Keeps the nozzle from spraying all over the place.

Most of my cages are setup this way:

WOW! That is an awesome misting system. Good job! hopefully when I am done mine will be somewhere along those lines. Thank you for the indepth pictures.

Ummmm... The orange light that looks like it came off of a mall security truck. What the heck is that for? LoL!!!

Also, that looks like a moon shine set up; not a chameleon misting system :p

Also again... Are you misting them chameleons with shine!?!?!?!

I am also seriously thinking about picking up a misting system. Are there any caveats or maintenance problems with the setup I should be worried about? (i.e. New nozzles, etc.)

as long as you use good clean water, no. just fill and forget.

I just got my HerpMist system yesterday and it's absolutely 100% awesome! Out of the box, I set it up in literally 5 minutes. It's so easy and straightforward you really don't have to read the instructions. And it works perfectly. It's sooo quiet you can breathe louder than this thing!

It was also super cheap considering all the additions I added to it. The complete Hobbyist system, 4 gal reservoir, ART DNe repeat cycle timer, screen cage adapters - the works ran me about $255 and some change. Totally worth it.

*note* Make sure you push the hosing ALL THE WAY in to the collets of the nozzle! When I first turned the system on, I looked a tthe motor and thought, "Hmm, sounds louder than I thought it would." Then I look at the age and have this geyeser of water shooting up! LOL! After I fixed that, this baby is SILENT.

I totally recommend getting the HerpMist.

The orange light is there to tell me if the misting system power is on. It was laying around from my days back at Crown. I thought a strobe lamp would be really annoying but a slow blinking light wouldn't be so bad. It has actually helped out a once or twice. late one night I was just falling alseep and noticed that the living room was lighting up orange. The power had gone out that day and offset my misting program.... Not that its a HUGE deal it might have misted at night, but I was able to stop it from happening.

The system looks like a "hodge podge" because I haven't refined the final setup. This is the basic setup from the first configuration. It doesn't need to have all of those hoses like it has right now.

And thanks for the compliments guys. I'll show some pics of it when I get it setup a little better.

Just an FYI, next week we're having a baby girl - our 2nd kid, 1st girl :)

I'll be in and out of the hospital. I typically respond pretty fast via email, and PMs, but don't get surprised if you don't hear from me for a day or two. I'll make every effort to pop out (no pun intended ;)) and process orders on daily basis, but in case you're curious why things may be delayed a bit next week. Next week will be very interesting, that's for sure.

Congrats Marty! :)

Mael,

Those nozzles are made from acetal plastic. It's not as "molecularly sticky" to any dissolved minerals in the water as are most metals. If you feed the system with RO water, you virtually eliminate the source of the problem and you won't have the same amount build up on plants, screen, or glass.

Of course, if you don't already have an RO system, you can replace a lot of nozzles for the cost of one.

RO is great! But you will hear from some people that it isn't great for chams. Water has a lot of natural minerals we and chams need. I suppose if you were dusting your feeders correctly you would bridge the gap between minerals that aren't in the water anymore with what is in the dusted food. I am not an expert but have read in on some discussion of RO usage with chams. I would like to go RO, but feel a inline heater is more important at the moment:eek:.
